About this item

Prepare the Environment: Begin by ensuring there’s a stationary object (such as a wall clock or a picture) at a distance of at least 3 meters (10 feet) in front of you. This helps maintain a steady gaze during measurement.​ Position the Ruler: Hold the PD ruler horizontally, with the scale facing outward. Gently place the curved nose gap against the bridge of your nose, ensuring it sits comfortably and stays in place.​ Align Your Gaze: Keep your head upright and look straight ahead at the distant stationary object. Avoid tilting your head or shifting your eyes, as this can affect accuracy.​ Locate the Midpoint: Adjust the ruler slightly to center the nose gap between your two eyes. The ruler should lie flat against your forehead without pressing too tightly.​ Take the Measurement: For one eye, note the line on the scale that aligns closest to the center of your pupil. Repeat the process for the other eye. The numerical value on the scale is your pupil distance (PD) measurement. For best results, take 2-3 readings and use the average to ensure precision.
