About this item

MetriCide 28 Sterilizing and Disinfecting Solution is a high-level disinfectant and sterilant formulated for the reprocessing of immersible and heat-sensitive medical equipment and instruments. Containing 2.5% buffered glutaraldehyde, it provides reliable, broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity for facilities requiring effective disinfection where alternative sterilization methods are not suitable. This ready-to-use cleaning liquid is intended for use in a tray system and may be reused for up to 28 days, provided the solution remains above the minimum effective concentration (MEC). To ensure ongoing effectiveness, the solution must be tested prior to each use with MetriTest 1.8% Test Strips, which are designed to monitor solutions with an MEC of 1.8% glutaraldehyde. MetriCide 28 is recommended for non-critical, semi-critical, and critical medical tools that are fully immersible and sensitive to heat. Common applications include anesthesia equipment, respiratory therapy equipment, rubber and plastic medical objects, and compatible stainless steel instruments. The formulation includes surfactants to enhance surface contact and cleaning performance while remaining non-corrosive when used according to instructions. The solution requires no dilution and is ready to use directly from the container, simplifying workflow and minimizing preparation errors. Lab instruments & equipment should be fully immersed for the recommended contact time, rinsed appropriately prior to patient use, and the solution replaced after 28 days or sooner if MEC requirements are not met. MetriCide 28 disinfecting cleaner offers a dependable, long-lasting solution for hospital, healthcare and clinical environments seeking effective high-level disinfection and sterilization of heat-sensitive medical equipment while supporting consistent reprocessing standards.
