Marshmallow is a perennial herb native throughout damp areas of northern Europe and western Asia. It is now naturalized to the Atlantic coast of the United States and used as an ornamental for its pointed foliage and purple flowers. Marshmallow leaf is useful whenever a soothing effect is needed. Internally for bronchitis, asthma, hiatus hernia, cystitis, and mucus. Externally for insect bites, mastitis, boils and gangrene.
To make Marshmallow tea, use 2 teaspoons of the leaves, add boiling water, let steep for about 7 to 10 minutes, then drink and enjoy.
