Leather Properties & Characteristics

FULL GRAIN LEATHER: Leather that has not been altered beyond hair removal. It is the most genuine of leathers, retaining all of the hide’s original texture and markings. The hide’s best, strongest, and most durable layer.

LEATHER HIDE FEATURES: The leather hide is a fibrous tissue that is tight, has small elongation, elasticity board fullness, non-greasy feeling, full-grain leather, and soft absorbent volatile.

VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER: Firm Temper with Smooth Texture. The tanning process involves using natural vegetable tannins to alter the protein structure of the hide, causing it to become leather. The source of vegetable oils comes from tree bark, leaves, and roots are used due to their exceptionally high tannin concentration. In essence, these organic substances serve three functions: preserving, strengthening and giving natural color to the hide.

Since the leather is made of the least damaged skin, you will hardly find any blemishes, holes, and defects on the leather's surface. It has a vintage, aesthetic look to it. Note that natural leather hides will have some minor blemishes, ticks, scars, wrinkles but we try to minimize those issues.

The tooling leather is thicker, more robust, and less prone to cracking and damage. The cowhide leather material is durable and lasts longer in comparison to the fabric. The leather has properties of repelling moisture, which also resists sun and heat damage, making it multi-functional.
